Course Syllabus
The Iowa Institute of Human Genetics will be offering the Topics in Genetic Counseling Webinar Series to undergraduate students and recent college graduates interested in pursuing graduate school for genetic counseling.
The purpose of the series is to provide participants with exposure to topics in the field of genetic counseling to assist in preparing them for a successful career in genetic counseling. Part 1 will cover an introduction to various genetic counseling specialties and include case-based learning. Part 2 consists of seminars covering various topics relevant to the profession.
Participants will be expected to engage in discussions during each live session, complete pre and post-tests, and a course evaluation form. Participants who complete all the pre-recorded sessions, 9 of 10 live topic sessions, the pre and post-tests and course evaluation will receive a certificate of completion.
- Please note live sessions to occur Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 12-1pm US Central Daylight Time. The days and times of the sessions are chosen based on availability of the Genetic Counselors who are taking time out of their day to facilitate these discussions. It is not possible to accommodate requests to alter the schedule.
